Brentwood in Bloom

A public art initiative funded by the Town of Brentwood, Brentwood in Bloom sought to enliven Route 1, the major arterial through Brentwood and to increase pedestrian safety. Concrete planters, painted by artist Luther Wright and planted by Out The Trunk Community Nursery, delineate public sidewalk space from private parking areas. Brightly colored artwork designed by Chalk Riot, draws attention to bus stops and adds beauty to the experience of waiting for the bus. Butterflies, symbolizing migration and representing the diversity of Brentwood, were painted by a diverse group of artists, curated by Natalie Fulgencio-Turner of Common Collective DC.
